The two men indicted by a Boulder County grand jury for allegedly tricking an 86-year-old woman into selling her Sixth Street home and collecting more than $30,000 in rent from the property turned themselves in to the Boulder County Jail on Monday.

Both Gilbert Million, 55, and Lance Stromberg, 58, were booked and then released from the jail Monday morning, according to jail records.

Million is facing charges of criminal exploitation of an at-risk elder, theft. criminal impersonation and offering a false instrument for recording, while Stromberg is facing one count of theft.

No court dates have been set for either of the men.

According to the indictment, Million met the 86-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, at the West Boulder Senior Center, where both volunteered.

In 2012, the woman told Million she planned to sell her home and move closer to her daughter, who lives in a mobile home in Longmont.

When she told him she was ready to sell, he and Stromberg moved in. On Jan. 4, according to court documents, the three met and agreed to the sale at a price of $412,500, with the condition that the buyers pay just $1,000 up front and $9,000 at closing.

In March 2013, the closing date rolled around, but Million gave her no check, according to the indictment. He arranged for a third party to help move her things from the house and into a mobile home.

Two months later, Million began advertising the property on Craigslist, and he collected $32,500 over the next 11 months, according to the indictment. All rent checks were made payable to Stromberg.

About eight weeks ago, Million arranged for the woman and her daughter, whom he had begun dating, to see Longmont attorney Todd Stoneman. The attorney told the woman she was being "ripped off" and was "very concerned about the terms" of the arrangement.

To date, the woman has received a total of $2,350 for a house valued at up to $600,000, according to the documents.

Million, in an interview with the Camera on Saturday, insisted he is innocent.

"It's a fair deal," he said. "The seller is a very sweet person. I care about her dearly."
