Image titleGarden in a Box through Denver Water and Resource Central have just launched their third year of offering Xeric Garden plants and plans to the Greater Denver area! I purchased one of these for my new home in Athmar Park two years ago and have been immensely satisfied!

To quote from their website:

Garden In A Box offers a simple approach to water-wise gardening. Resource Central’s professionally designed gardens contain perennial, xeric (low water) plants for your landscaping needs. Homeowners, communities, and HOAs can plant the gardens to replace turf, reduce watering requirements, and otherwise improve conservation practices for their landscapes.

You can choose from 8 different plans, most of them for full sun, one for part shade, a victory (edible) garden and a Greatest Hits to add additional plants to the Box you may have already purchased! Gift cards are also available if that interests you.

So about the box itself: the larger boxes cover about 100 sq ft and include 29 plants, smaller are about 72-60 sq ft. and include 23- 15 plants. Included with your purchase are gardening layouts with multiple shapes to accommodate your vision and needs (rectangle, round, free-form). This plan gives you the recommended placement for your new plants! So basically, your getting plants and a designer all in one!Image title

Like I mentioned at the opening, I purchased one of these two years ago for my backyard. It gets full sun all day long! I'm not the best at Plant Parenting but I'm happy to tell you that the box is probably 85% still alive! I may have lost two plants since the initial install! They go dormant in winter, but come spring I see green pushing through the mulch and by summer I have bushes of sage, flowering cups in purple and pinks, tall grasses and plenty of greenery!  All of which I am starting to see again just this week!

I love these because I don't have to babysit them. I don't have to tiptoe around them. I didn't have to second guess placement or anything! Its gardening paint-by-numbers! I just bought two more for my front yard: one for the down-slope i pulled the grass up from so I don't have to  vertically mow anymore. Plus a second to go under the very large tree I have where grass cannot grow.

SO I wanted to share with you! Denver Water customers also get a $25 off discount! So give it a look and see if it will get you and your home where you want it to be!
