The most expensive home in this year’s Parade of Homes is one step ahead of you in every way.

Fully stocked with features like a smartphone-operable security system, curbless showers to allow wheelchair access and the newest kitchen appliances from Jenn-Air, life in this house is meant to be a breeze.

In fact, this house is so jam-packed with the newest in everything from light fixtures to tile designs, that Jackson Design Build, the custom home-builder that constructed the house, named it the New Ideas Home.

Priced at just under $1.5 million, this “Dream Home” — a designation given to houses in the Parade of Homes going for more than $700,000 — is already under contract. But you can still see it, along with other homes on the 2016 Parade of Homes tour, which runs through Labor Day.

The home at 1606 S. Cook St., in the Cory-Merrill neighborhood, is also the only Dream Home in Denver — the other three Dream Homes in this year’s Parade of Homes are in Thornton, Castle Rock and Aurora.

Jackson Design Build originally constructed the house to show during the Parade of Homes. Dave Jackson, owner of Jackson Design Build, said that much to his surprise, a family purchased it in mid-July, before the house even went on the market. They will move in after the Parade of Homes.

Jackson called the surrounding neighborhood an active one, where demolition of older homes and rebuilding modern ones is a common practice. With new houses replacing the older ones, the value of all the homes in the neighborhood is going up, and property in the area isn’t cheap, either, at $350,000 to $400,000, he said.

The home has a hefty price tag, but its 4,600-square-foot floor plan is jam-packed with luxury. The first floor is an open living area with a connected kitchen and dining room. Sliding doors open into both the front yard and backyard, where the garage is, for maximum natural lighting. The kitchen has two ovens and sinks, a spacious refrigerator, white quartz counters and high-gloss laminate cabinets.

Jackson also said the first floor is completely ADA accessible, with no steps at the front or back doors and extra wide doorways. The rest of the house is also ADA ready, with a designated area for an elevator installation.

There’s a wine garden on the basement level, with a spacious living area next to it.

All of the bathrooms in the Dream Home feature unique tile designs, from metallic finishes to brightly colored ceramic pieces. Bedrooms on the second and third floor have their own terraces. The master bedroom features a smokeless fireplace and huge separate walk-in closets.

This Dream Home isn’t flashy, though. Jackson said the home was designed to make life as comfortable as possible for its buyers. It’s a beautiful house designed with an eye for both aesthetics and practicality.

“I imagine I’ll hear great comments about the home when we begin showing it. We just want other builders and people to take ideas away from this home,” Jackson said.
