Why Are You Still Renting
Denver-area rents are rising at more than twice the national average, according to a report Tuesday by Apartment List. Rents across the metro area increased 6.9 percent since August 2014, compared with 2.3 percent nationwide.
Last month, a median two-bedroom apartment in Denver was renting for $1,550, a year-over-year increase of 5.3 percent.
That's actually less than the going rate in Broomfield and Centennial, where the median price tag for a two-bedroom apartment hit $1,800 and $1,630, respectively.
It was Westminster, Englewood, Littleton and Thornton, however, that experienced the biggest year-over-year percentage increases of anywhere in the metro area.
Rents for two-bedroom units in Westminster have jumped 13.7 percent over the last year to $1,420. Englewood has seen increases of 11.1 percent to $1,400, while Littleton rose 10.7 percent to $1,500 and Thornton 10.4 percent to $1,290.
