Why Not Weld County

Weld County is one of the larger counties in Colorado. It is located in Northern Colorado and stretches from the Wyoming state line south to Adams County. The Denver Metro Area continues to expand geographically, so now Southern Weld County no longer feels isolated from this major population center. Many parts of this region are within a half hour's drive from Denver. Popular and populous cities in Weld County include Greeley, Evans, Johnstown, Firestone, Frederick, Fort Lupton, Erie, Dacono, Frederick, Mead, Hudson, Lochbuie, and part of Longmont.

Though it is close geographically, Weld County continues to be an affordable option. The median home price is $246,100 vs. $371,100 in Denver. This means buyers looking for starter homes have a chance to find something affordable. Also, if you are looking to downsize from a large home, Weld County is also an option. Owing to its frontier roots, ranch style homes are very popular.

You don't have to trek all the way to Denver to find a job, however. The major industries in Weld County  are agriculture, oil/natural gas, green energy (wind and solar), and customer service. Greeley, it's county seat, is also it's major employment center, with regional and national headquarters for large businesses like State Farm and JBS USA. It is also home to large manufacturing/production operations for companies like Vestas.  The unemployment rate in Weld County is only 4.2%! Which is a full percent lower than the nation average.

As Weld County is so large, you do not have to drive from one side of the county to the other to get services. There are two full service facilities in Weld County, one in the county seat of Greeley to the North and one in the population center of South Weld County, in Longmont.

So when you begin your home search, ask yourself, "Why not Weld County?"
